Assignment Two - Inspiration...

For this second submission, I think I may find my design moving away from the 'urban tree house' typology, to incorporate this 'bridging' theme that came out of the discussion with my tutor. The bridge (in the first submission) being from one building to the other, is also similar to the park attendant - terry's home. So the design may incorporate a tree house aspect, whilst being a 'bridge', and incorporating light (the lightening man aspects) and have a negotiable floor plan (similar to trolley pusher). This could mean the sharing of space between the jurors and trolley man, whilst directing glass at the lightening man's home for reflective light entry and using the bridge aspect between or somehow conjoined to the park attendant's house and designing around the environment (the park).

I think that the other 2 people in  (the silent jurors) Lily's home will be boarders, as she has very little to do with others, nobody known to her would move in with her. The architecture will cater for her inverted and private tendencies, whilst mimic metaphors used in the last design, and will incorporate the above aspects of the neighbouring properties.

Some further investigation for the submission...

Bridging Architecture

Submission Two - Investigation

How does the silent jurors (lily abott) relate to her ‘neighbours’, traits in common;

Lighting Man – Troy:
·         Can do a lot of their work at home
·         Lily is interested in how light enters space. Lightening man, is interested is interested in how it defines architecture, and using it in architecture.
·         LM is interested in nature, while Lily is interested in its sustainability.
Trolley Pusher - Wolfgang:
·         Introvert
·         The ‘home’ is reflecting emotional needs
·         The need to feel sheltered
Park Attendant - Terry:
·         Doesn’t like drama and technology that the modern world aids.
·         Not interested in other persons, unless they share the same interest
·         Interest in reading

How Lily’s separate home relates to the separate homes of the new neighbours? and how they are going to relate in design:

Lighting Man – Troy:
·         Glass usage
·         Height
Trolley Pusher - Wolfgang:
·         Unconventional site / unconventional inhabitation of space
·         Movement of floor plan
Park Attendant - Terry:
·         Both forms of bridges
·         Both in their own space

This may mean that my new design is a bridging element that connects others, a design which will be investigated further.
